Cineplex Odeon Granville Cinemas (Vancouver, British Colombia Canada - 1986)

The Granville Cinemas combine aspects of historical preservation, restoration, and new construction. The four levels include two restored cinemas and five new cinemas constructed partially behind the facade of the original Palms Hotel. A new granite and glass central section links the two historic structures. The project was the recipient of two awards; one from the Vancouver Architectural Conservancy, and a special award for the spectacular exterior marquee, with its extensive use of multi-coloured neon.
