Shaker Square Cinemas (Cleveland, Ohio USA -
1999)
The Shaker Square Cinema, designed by John Eberson in 1937, is a
historic landmark. In 1983, the auditorium and balcony were divided into
five cinemas, in a heavy-handed and inappropriate renovation. A fire had
destroyed the entry lobby. The property was taken over by Cleveland
Cinemas in 1999, and renovated and restored. The space was re-divided into
six, all-stadium auditoriums, and the lobby was restored to its original
appearance, with the addition of a modern concession stand and ticket
booth.
