Carnegie Hall Cinemas (New York, New York USA -
1988)
This restoration project involved the conversion of a former rehearsal
hall in the basement of Carnegie Hall to a 325 seat movie cinema, the
renovation of the lobby areas, and the addition of a small repertory
cinema in space occupied by the stage. An old boiler room adjacent to the
lobby was recaptured to create an intimate café. The beaux-arts style
theatre has been praised for the sensitivity of the restoration effort.
The theatre was published in the September 1990 issue of Film Journal
International.
